The Simple Beauty of White

September 26, 2008
White orchards are simple and beautiful. No fuss. Just lovely.

Visual Viewpoint: White Orchids Against Dark Wood

This entry could also be filed as one of my “visual viewpoints” you may have seen in earlier posts.

White orchids

When I was a little girl, orchids were things young ladies were handed by their dates to tie on their wrists for a dance. We never had an orchid plant in the house and there certainly weren’t dozens of orchid pots to choose from at the grocery story. I like today’s orchid culture better and often buy one (I always try to make certain there are enough unopened buds so it will last longer) and put it next to my front window, where I took this picture. The background looks dark because there is a dark door against which I shot the photo, but I think it emphasizes the exquisite delicacy of the simple, elegant flowers.
