A Faithful Old Bell

Company gives me a chance to visit tourist places I enjoy.

Visual Viewpoint: Bell in the San Juan Capistrano Mission

This entry could also be filed as one of my “visual viewpoints” you may have seen in earlier posts.

Mission bell of San Juan Capistrano

The pleasure of having company in Southern California is double what it may be anywhere lacking in places to visit. Here we not only get to have the fun of catching up on news with friends and family. We are able to take them to many tourist attractions of the area. And one of the most interesting historically is the Mission of San Juan Capistrano. Entering the grounds is very peaceful and quite.

At the same time, one can certainly see how terribly hard life must have been for everyone. Not least of which was the great cultural shift forced on the native population. Yet eventually these bells were accepted as a central feature of life in the very early days of California.
